Jaqueline Fleming started training as an actress at the age of 6 years and her first public performance was Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz at the age of 8 years at her artistic elementary school, Little Red School House in New York City. Thirty three years as a professional actress in the business and Jaqueline is still just as excited!
2008 was a very busy year for actress and entrepreneur Jaqueline Fleming. She starred in one of her all time favorite movies “Sister Switch” a fun family movie starring Kadeem Hardison, herself and Neenah Taylor directed by the very talented writer, director, producer Torrance Colvin. Shortly after wrapping the film she got a call to come in and fill some big shoes on the touring play, “Whatever She Wants”. With only 10 days notice, Jaqueline stepped into the lead role of Ms. Vivian Wolfe previously held by actress/producer Ms. Vivica Foxx. The tour was a short run but it had a lasting effect on Jaqueline. It brought her back to her theatre days and theatre was her training ground as an actress first starting in the business as a child. Performing iss the payoff and starring opposite Malik Yoba and Richard Roundtree, two extremely talented actors, was both humbling and priceless.
The tour ended and Jaqueline decided to ride out the writers strike in New Orleans, which is now her second home. While in New Orleans Jaqueline began speaking to kids at various schools about entertainment and she also volunteered with cancer patients at a local hospital. “My outlook on life was changing daily and I could see New Orleans was still rebuilding post Katrina and I wanted to be apart of that new growth in any way possible”. Her agent could hear the excitement in her voice when they talked and he told her to stay in New Orleans; Hollywood wasn’t going anywhere. She ran with it!
She got involved in the lives of the teens in the city and found hesellf teaching more and more acting workshops around the city. Jaqueline decided to stick around for awhile longer and before she knew it she was opening an acting studio in Metairie, LA. “I had coached actors since I can remember for auditions so it just came naturally to me. This was my second love outside of acting." At her studio, she wanted to create a haven to foster creativity to anyone who truly wanted it. She sponsors thru her own entertainment company two kids per acting class that suffer economic hardship. It feels so good to help cultivate someone’s dreams. Jaqueline herself also had dreams outside of acting. She always dreamed of having an entertainment company since she was a child. “I could see it so clearly all my life, but there is a season for all things.” In 2008, she decided to go to that next level and move forward into producing huge scale entertainment venues. Jaqueline is the producer and promoter for the all star comedy Tour “Yes We Can make you laugh” starring Comedian Doug Williams, Joe Torrey and headliner Actor/Comedian, Tommy Davidson. Her comedy show will be at the Baton Rouge River Center theatre on Dec 27th.
Her acting studio also hosted a seminar on Dec 6th in Metairie at the Days Inn Hotel and her guest speaker was Los Angeles Casting Director, Pamela Azmi-Andrew and there are more lined up for 2009. There is a lot going on with Jaqueline and most of her time is spent growing her entertainment company, running her acting studio, writing and acting. “Acting will always be my first love hands down”.
She recently wrapped a lead role in the movie “Attack of the Governor” where she had an opportunity to star opposite Eric Roberts. The movie also stars Robin Givens, Billy Zane and Steven Bauer.
The year is coming to a close with a big bang and Jaqueline is looking forward to 2009. “I am excited about the endless possibilities in both New Orleans and Los Angeles.
